Historic Building lost in fire
Today, January 8th 2014, Cato lost one of its historic buildings; the old milk station. Starting in the late 19th century farmers began bringing their milk here to be shipped on the Lehigh Valley Railroad. In the winter ice was cut on nearby Parker Pond and hauled up into the building to keep the milk cold well into the spring. By the mid 20th century the building housed the Dairymen's League Cooperative. The building has served many purposes since that time and will be sorely missed by the community. Thank You to all the local fire departments that spent many hours battling this blaze.
